The Queen, in her role as Patron of the Royal Institute of British Architects, presents Mr. Alvaro Siza with The Queen's Gold Medal for Architecture at an audience at Buckingham Palace, 26 February 2009. Awarded in recognition of a lifetime's work, the Medal is given annually to a person or group of people whose work has had a significant influence on international architecture.
